Bhubaneswar: Two young cousins lost their lives in a motorcycle crash near Limamoda village under Gunupur police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district late on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Muna Kimbaka and Krishna Kimbaka, residents of Nilaguda village in the Gudari block.

According to sources, the duo had travelled to Gunupur for some work and were returning home when the rider lost control of the motorcycle, crashing into an electric pole close to Limamoda. The accident left both riders with critical injuries. Local residents rescued the injured and rushed them to the Gunupur sub-divisional hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

While police have seized the bodies and launched an investigation, preliminary findings suggest that the rider lost control over the bike while driving at a high speed, leading to the crash. Possibility of poor road conditions or reduced visibility are also being probed.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended on the village following the sudden demise of the two young men.
