Sambalpur: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Sambalpur administration on Wednesday declared two-day shutdown in some areas of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) from Thursday.
Burla area (from Ward-3 to Ward-7) under the SMC, barring the VIMSAR campus, will be under complete shutdown during this period.
As many as 105 people have been infected in Sambalpur so far.
During the shutdown, intra-district movement of public and private vehicles, movement of people will be restricted and shop and other commercial establishments, government and private institutions will remain shut, the district administration said.
Emergency services – medical establishments, medicine stores, movement of state and central government officials on emergency duty, petrol pumps, milk booths, movement of goods carriers, agricultural activities, marriages and funerals with permission of local authorities – will be allowed.
The administration has warned of strict action against the violators.
