Bargarh: A violent clash erupted between two groups near Sai Temple at Hatpada in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Thursday evening, leaving two persons dead.
One of deceased has been identified as Pradeep Luha (24), a resident of College Road in Bargarh. He sustained grievous injuries on his head, neck and body during the clash and later succumbed while undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital. Pradeep’s friends Ritik and Suraj Barik (24), who also sustained serious injuries in the attack, were shifted to VIMSAR in Bural. Suraj, however, passed away this morning.
According to sources, tension gripped the area last evening after a dispute over a verbal spat between the two groups escalated into violence. Pradeep and his companions were chased down and attacked with sharp weapons, including machetes.
On being informed, Town Police arrived at the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the clash, the sequence of events, and identify those involved. Statements from witnesses are being recorded and raids are being conducted to apprehend the culprits.
Additional forces have been deployed in the area to prevent flare-ups.
