Two Detained For Trawler Owner’s Murder In Odisha’s Chandipur, Gun Seized

Balasore: Police have detained two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a trawler owner near Balaramgadi at Naupal within Chandipur Marine police limits here the previous day.

A gun has been seized from their possession, informed Balsore SP Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra.

The murder, which took place around 4 pm, had sent shockwaves in the area.

According to sources, Bijay Pradhan (55) was chased by miscreants while he was on his way to Naupal beach. He left his motorcycle near the beach on realising that he was being followed and rushed towards his trawler. The killers, however, managed to catch up and fired indiscriminately at him. He received a fatal injury on his neck and died on the spot.

Pradhan was a native of Ghudapada village under Balasore Sadar police limits.

Past enmity is being suspected to be the reason behind the murder.
