Two ‘Disillusioned’ Women BJD Leaders Quit Party Ahead Of Odisha Elections
Bhubaneswar: Social activist Linkan Subudhi and Sandhyabati Pradhan, former chairperson of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR), resigned from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday.
Alleging continuous neglect, Linkan said she cannot continue in a party where women empowerment is only a slogan. “Women is just use and throw object and women get less respect & dignity ( Naari Swabhiman and Sanman) in the
party nowadays,” she added.
Pradhan, on the other hand, said that it had become difficult to reach out to the BJD president, Naveen Patnaik, for suggestions and advice. “….I strongly feel our voices do not reach your good self since you are surrounded by a coterie with a vested personal interest. Your door seems to be closed to listen to our grievances, suggestions and advice. ……As I am disillusioned with the present state of affairs in Biju Janata Dal, I regretfully have taken this decision,” she wrote in the letter.
