Two Held For Snatching Gold Chain From Woman DSP In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The special squad of Police Commissionerate on Saturday busted a chain-snatching racket and nabbed the mastermind and another person in connection with the snatching of gold chain from a woman DSP at gunpoint.

Police seized a revolver, two rounds of live bullets and gold ornaments from their possession.

The mastermind of the gang has been identified as Manoj Behera alias Muna against whom several cases are pending in the police stations of the city and outskirts, police said. The duo will be forwarded to court tomorrow after interrogation.

The incident had taken place in Unit-3 area on July 26 morning when two bike-borne miscreants arrived at the official residence of the woman Vigilance DSP Tanuja Mohanty. Finding her sweeping the front verandah, they came to her and snatched a gold chain from her neck at gunpoint.

Police later began investigation following a complaint lodged by Mohanty in Kharavela Nagar police station.
