Two Hotels In Odisha Among 8 Assets Of ITDC To Be Monetised In Next 4 Years

Bhubaneswar: India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a PSU under the Tourism Ministry, is exploring the possibility for giving operation and maintenance contract of Hotel Kalinga Ashok, Bhubaneshwar, and disinvestment of Hotel Nilachal, Puri, under the government’s ambitious target of monetising “under-utilised” public sector assets.

A total of 8 ITDC hotel assets are under consideration, the National Monetisation document said.

Major assets under various stages of discussion are as following: 

  1. Joint leasing of Hotel Pondicherry Ashok, Puducherry 
  2. O&M contract for Hotel Kalinga Ashok, Bhubaneshwar 
  3. Divestment of Hotel Ranchi Ashok, Ranchi 
  4. Divestment of Hotel Nilachal, Puri 
  5. Transfer of ownership of Anandpur Sahib Hotel 
  6. Subleasing of Hotel the Ashok, New Delhi 
  7. O&M contract for Hotel Samrat, New Delhi 
  8. O&M contract for Hotel Jammu Ashok, Jammu

The Kalinga Ashok at Kalpana Square in Bhubaneswar has 36 rooms, including four suites. Hotel Nilachal located close to the Raj Bhawan in Puri is lying defunct for several years. The ITDC has an 89 per cent stake in the hotel while the remaining 11 per cent is with the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC).
