Balasore/Deogarh: Two persons died and 15 were injured in two separate road accidents in Balasore and Deogarh districts on Monday.
In Balasore district, a speeding truck reportedly rammed a motorcycle near Naharpatna under Sadar police limits killing one person on the spot. Two others riding the motorcycle sustained severe injuries and were admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Pradipta Mohapatra (20) later succumbed to his injuries.
Pradish Das, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
The identity of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained. The victims belong to Kalma area of the district.
Following the accident, locals staged a blockade demanding compensation for the bereaved families.
In Deogarh, 15 women labourers were injured after the mini truck in which they were travelling overturned at Gaelo Ghati. They were admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
