Two Killed, 30 Injured In 3 Separate Road Accidents In Odisha



Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were killed and over 30 others injured, several of them critically, in three separate road accidents in Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts of Odisha since Friday night.

In Ganjam district, a private passenger bus from Polasara to Puri collided head-on with a truck near Bali Dhaba on the Kodala-Khalikote Road ion Saturday morning. The truck driver died on the spot, while 15 passengers of the bus sustained injuries, five of them grievously, police sources said.

In another mishap, an SUV carrying wedding party overturned after colliding with a container on National Highway No. 18 near Nandasol Chhak under Betanati police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.

Sources said the accident took place after midnight when the SUV returning from a wedding in the Chitrada area, took a wrong turn into a diversion on the highway. At least 13 persons were injured in the incident. All the injured were shifted to PRM Hospital in Baripada for treatment.

In yet another incident, a motorcyclist was killed after the two-wheeler lost balance and met with an accident near Ghoghar Bundel forest under Talsara police station limits in Sundargarh district around midnight.

While a youth, identified as Shlok Barla (22), died in the mishap, two others — Abinash Barla (20) and Akash Barla (19) — were seriously injured. All three hailed from Balishankara Bhatipada village.

The injured were first rushed to Subdega Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
