Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and another was critically injured in a road accident involving a car and another vehicle in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to sources, the car was coming in high speed on the National Highway 16 from Khurda to the city. As it was about to reach Janla, the car driver lost control over the steering and jumped the median to cross over to the other side.
At the same time, a Tata Ace was coming from opposite direction. The speeding car hit the vehicle with big force. On the impact of the collision, the drivers of both vehicles died on the spot while another person sustained critical injuries.
While both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident, the movement of vehicles on the National Highway came to a standstill.
On being informed, a team from Info Valley police station went to the spot. They sent the bodies for post-mortem and the injured person to nearby hospital. The identity of the three persons has not been ascertained.
The police restored traffic movement and registered a case. Further investigation is on.
