He further said that the accused were staying in rented houses under Laxmisagar and Lingaraj station police limits by identifying themselves as masons and daily wage workers. Their associates from Jharkhand and Bengal picked the stolen mobiles from them while they stayed put there.
Most mobile phones seized during raids on these house are costly smartphone devices, Sarifuddin said.
“Efforts will be made to handover the seized police to their rightful owners,” he said, adding that manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding members of the gang and also traced involvement of others in the organised theft.
