Berhampur: Two more senior police officers in Odisha’s Ganjam district have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Tweet, Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray said that the IIC of Chhatrapur Police station and the SDPO of Chhatrapur have tested for COVID-19.
Stating that the two officers, who are now in home quarantine may have contracted the virus during their visit to the institutional quarantine centres.
“We are keeping a close watch on all staff of the office of the SDPO and the Chhatrapur police station whose swabs have been sent for test. Anyone who has tested positive for the virus will be kept in home quarantine,” Ray said.
“We wish speedy recovery of them. Inspired by their services, we take this fight against COVID with great zeal to save our citizens from this disease,” he added.
On Friday, a Havildar of Motu border check post in Malkangiri had tested positive for coronavirus. After detection of the case, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) along with other staff of Motu Police Station were instructed to remain under home quarantine.
On May 19, Odisha had reported the first case of a cop contracting the virus. He is a constable with the Armed Police Reserve (AP).
