New Delhi: Railways, IT & Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, a Rajya Sabha member from Odisha, is part of the Cabinet Committee on Employment & Skill Development. He has also made an entry to Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth.
However, he is not the lone MP from Odisha to have found a place in the reconstituted cabinet committees.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also been accommodated in Cabinet Committees on Economic Affairs and Employment & Skill Development. The committee on Economic Affairs to be headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari among others.
Union ministers Smriti Irani, Bhupender Yadav and Sarbananda Sonowal are part of the all-important Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs headed by PM Modi.
The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also saw new faces in Union Ministers Virendra Kumar, Kiren Rijiju and Anurag Singh Thakur, a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariate last night said.
Meanwhile, no changes have been made to the country’s highest decision-making body on security affairs — the Cabinet Committee on Security — and the Appointments Committee. The Appointments Committee takes decisions on all important appointments in the government in the rank of Joint Secretary and above.
The Prime Minister, the Defence Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar are the members of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
