Bhubaneswar: With the cold wave sweeping Odisha, Daringbadi and Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 6 degree Celsius on Saturday.
Similiguda was a close second at 6.1 degree Celsius followed by G Uadaygiri at 6.2 degree Celsius, Kirie at 7.2 degree Celsius and Bhawanipatna, Koenjhar and Sonepur at 8 degree Celsius. Jharsuguda registered 8.4 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature in Koraput, Nayagarh, Balangir and Angul was 9 degree Celsius. Boudh recorded 10 degree Celsius.
The mercury dropped to 11.2 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar while Cuttack recorded 12 degree Celsius.
Notably, the India Meteorological Department had forecast about 4.5 to 6 degrees fall in the night temperature from the normal in the state under influence of cold and dry winds blowing from the northwest direction.
Cold wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in interior Odisha during the last 24 hours, it added.
The MeT office has also issued yellow warning till 8.30 am on January 31.
One or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul and Keonjhar are likely to experience the chill till 8.30 am on January 30 and Jharsuguda, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Kalahandi during the subsequent 24 hours.
