Two Siblings Die Of ‘Unknown Disease’ In 24 Hrs In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Two siblings died of unknown disease within 24 hours and their mother and brother have been admitted to a hospital in the district after they also fell ill.

According to sources, all the three children of 33-year old widow Indu Turi of Damalu village under Lahunipada police limits of the district were suffering from fever for the last few days. Indu had consulted a local quack for the ailment.

On Monday, Indu’s 6-year-old son Ajay died and the villagers buried her body. Next day, her eight-year-old daughter Ashrita also passed away.

Following Ashrita’s death, the villagers admitted Indu and her 2-year-old child Firu, who were also suffering from fever, to Lahunipada CHC.

Firu has been diagnosed with malaria fever and low hemoglobin. Though his mother was having mild fever, her test reports for malaria, typhoid and total blood count came negative, TNIE quoted Dr Chinmay Sahu of the CHC as saying. Both Indu and her son have been shifted to Bonai sub-divisional hospital.

On the death of Ajya and Ashrita, Dr Sahu said they might have died of some infection. Ashrita’s post-mortem report would reveal the cause of death, he added.
