Nuapada: Bodies of two sisters, who drowned while taking bath in a pond in Nuapada village under Khadial police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Wednesday evening, were handed over to the family members by the police on Thursday.
According to police, the deceased Sheetal Baghel (19) and her sister Tanisha (13) of Raipur area in Chhattisgarh had come to their uncle’s house to spend the summer vacation.
On Wednesday evening, the duo had gone to the village pond to take a bath. However, while taking bath, they slipped into the deep waters. At this, their grandmother tried to save them but in vain. As she cried for help, some villagers rushed to the pond and rescued the bodies of the two sisters.
Following information, Khadial police rushed to the village and took the bodies for post-mortem. The bodies were later handed over to the family members on Thursday.
