Two-Time World Cup Winner Yusuf Pathan Retires From All Forms Of Cricket

Vadodara: Two-time world winner Yusuf Pathan on Friday retired from all forms of cricket.

“I officially announce retirement from all forms of the game. I thank my family, friends, fans, team, and the whole country wholeheartedly for all the support and love. I am sure you will continue to encourage me in future as well,” the 38-year-old all-rounder posted on Twitter.

A hard-hitting batsman and handy off-spinner, Yusuf was a member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 50-over World Cup-winning squads.

Dubbed the ‘Baroda Bomber’ for his six-hitting prowess, Yusuf played 57 ODIs and 22 T20 Internationals for Team India, scoring 810 and 236 runs, respectively. He scored two centuries in ODIs including an unbeaten 123 in 2010 when he helped India chase down a target of 316 against against New Zealand.

Yusuf, elder brother of Irfan Pathan who represented India in all three formats, also captured 46 international wickets.

Yusuf had a fruitful stint in the IPL too — playing for Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad — scoring 3,204 runs and bagging 42 wickets. He won the coveted T20 title with Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
