Puri: Two tourists met their watery grave after being swept away by high tidal waves and strong currents while bathing at the sea beach in Odisha’s Puri town on Monday.
According to sources, people on the beach spotted them drifting into the sea at Sector 14, , near the Lighthouse area, and informed the lifeguards, who sprung to action and pulled them to the shore in a critical condition. The duo was rushed to district headquarters hospital here, but doctors were unable to revive them.
Though the identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, police have located the lodge where they were staying and are working to contact their families, the sources added.
This comes a day after four visitors were rescued after being swept away in the sea.
