Bhubaneswar: Greens Cricket Academy in association with Gadeswar Sports Association is holding U-16 Summer Camp at Gadakana here.
More than 40 budding cricketers have joined the camp, which began on Tuesday and will continue till May 27. The camp being conducted from 6.30 am to 9.30 includes comprehensive skill development and fitness sessions.
The morning session on the first day began with running, jogging and other fitness training followed by batting, bowling and fielding.
Former Ranji players BBCC Mohapatra and Sanjay Satpathy shared batting and bowling tips with the children, while hockey player Binay Kujur gave lessons on fitness. “Since fitness plays a pivotal role in shaping the career of a cricketer, we try to rope in a few renowned sports personalities for the benefit of the children,” said founder of the academy Ashok Jena.
With a more organised and dedicated effort of coach and students, the academy aspires to do well in the upcoming tournaments. “We have been organising a number matches with other teams of different academies all through the year, which allow children to learn from their mistakes. With right guidance and consistent hard work, one can dream to play for India in future,” said coach Brahmananda Behera.
Renowned cricketer Debasis Mohanty, Pravanjan Mullick, Basant Mohanty and P Jayachandra will also be sharing cricketing tips during the camp.
