Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be among the dignitaries to be present at the Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday evening when hosts India kick off their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign against the USA.

Pradhan earlier met FIFA secretary-general Fatma Samoura and AIFF officials, before addressing a press conference.
Admiring Samoura’s passion for education, empowerment of children and her regard for India, Pradhan said that they have agreed to take the Football for School programme to all the 760-odd districts in India in a big way.

Pradhan said that the Indian government and AIFF are committed to promote sports and create a mass movement for football, especially among school children in line with PM Narendra Modi’s “vision of a developing India as a sporting superpower as well as ensuring a #FitIndia.”
