Uber May Enter Bus Segment In India

Ride-hailing service Uber is reportedly looking at experimenting with bus service in India. Their bus service is already available in parts of Middle East and Latin America.

The service will let users book a seat in an air-conditioned bus using the Uber app. It will scan for riders travelling in the same direction so that there are lesser stops to the destination.

According to a report in Money Control, Uber’s bus service is expected to come to India in the next 12 months.

Home-grown Ola had previously experimented with the concept with Ola Shuttle in 2015. However, it shut operations in 2018 failing to get sufficient traction.

According to the same report, Uber has not yet found its “product-market fit”, which means the number of people who use air-conditioned cars on a daily basis.
