Pune: Odisha Juggernauts displayed great spirit and determination to avenge their first-leg defeat against table-toppers Gujarat Giants in the Ultimate Kho Kho League on Sunday evening.
Trailing 24-28 at half-time and then going further in arrears at 34-43 after turn 3, the Juggernauts defended stoutly and attacked with vigour to pull off a stunning 50-47 victory in their fourth match of the tournament at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.
The Juggernauts thus not only avenged their only defeat, they also inflicted the first loss on Gujarat Giants.
Despite both teams having won three matches and lost one, Gujarat Giants are on top of the table by a margin of one point, which they earned today for losing by a narrow margin (3 points).
The first-leg clash between the teams had also produced a close encounter, with Gujarat Giants pipping Odisha Juggernauts 54-49.
Odisha Juggernauts next face Chennai Quick Guns on August 24.
The six-team league will all outfits facing the others twice each, after which top four will progress to the knockout stage.
