Balangir/Sonepur: The Flying Squad seized unaccounted cash of over Rs 11 lakh from Odisha’s Sonepur and Balangir districts on Saturday.
Around Rs 8 lakh in cash was seized from near Bathla Square of Patnagarh in Balangir and one person was detained in this connection.
Likewise, Rs 3 lakh was seized from a car at Haradkhol in Sonepur the same day. Acting on tip-off, the flying squad conducted a raid and seized Rs 3 lakh from a vehicle. The police detained the vehicle’s owner for interrogation.
As the model code of conduct is in force for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, individuals are required to produce documents while carrying more than Rs 50,000 in cash.
