Uncle & Neighbour Of Odisha Girl ‘Sold In Haryana’ Arrested
Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police on Saturday arrested two persons from Brajarajnagar here in connection with the alleged selling and torture of a minor girl from Odisha at Bhiwani in Haryana.
They have been identified as Tankadhar and Ajay Ganjari, the girl’s uncle and neighbour respectively.
According to source, two teams including family members of the minor girl and the district child protection unit officials left for Bhiwani on Friday night the bring her back home.
The minor girl was rescued by police in a critical condition on Friday after she reportedly jumped off a two-storey building to escape her tormentor. The 15-year-old suffered critical injuries in the incident and was admitted to Hisar hospital for treatment.
Two months ago, her uncle had taken her to Haryana on the pretext of visiting a relative. He then solf her off to one Sandeep and his mother Sankuntala of Dhani village for Rs 2 lakh.
The victim also told the police that Sandeep had forcefully married her at a local temple. Since then she was kept in confinement and constantly raped by him.
On basis of the girl’s statement, Haryana police had arrested the mother-son duo. They have been under sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
