Bhadrak: An under-construction boundary wall adjacent to Shiva Ganga pond on Akhandalamani Temple premises at Aradi in Odisha’s Bhadrak district collapsed late Monday night.
According to sources, the boundary wall was being constructed adjacent to the pond to protect a 40-ft drain. The wall collapsed and its debris fell 20 feet below.
The foundation of the wall had reportedly become weak after its supporting soil was removed during desilting of the pond, leading to its collapse. However, nobody was injured in the incident as it took place at night when there were no devotees or labourers near the wall.
Due to deep digging inside the pond after drying it up, concrete structures in nearby areas have also developed cracks on the wall. Another building had also collapsed earlier in the area allegedly because of low-quality materials used in the construction.
