Malkangiri: An undertrial prisoner died on Sunday while undergoing treatment after a reported suicide attempt inside Malkangiri sub-jail.
According to reports, the deceased, Danu Goleri, had slit his throat with a knife on Saturday night. Jail authorities found him in a critical condition and rushed him to a hospital in Malkangiri. He, however, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Malkangiri police have sent the body for post mortem and started an investigation to ascertain if it was suicide or murder.
Police sources said Danu was a suspected Maoist and he was arrested two months ago.
