Puri: Three days after two containers of a sunken ship were washed ashore off Satabhaya beach in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, another container floating near the Puri beach was spotted by fishermen on Thursday.
The fishermen informed police about the box floating in the Bay of Bengal about 1.5 km off Penthakata beach.
Following this, a joint team of police and fire services rushed to the site and pulled the container to the shore today morning.
The district administration and marine police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Sources said, it was very likely that the container fell off from a ship and landed at Puri beach.
Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain said talks are on wih Coast Guard to identify the container. “It is a sensitive issue. Action would be taken as per protocol,” he said.
