Bhubaneswar: A common choice-based credit syllabus (CBCS) for undergraduate students and common entrance for PG students will be introduced in all universities across Odisha from the next academic year.
To maintain quality of education, the Odisha State Higher Education Council took this decision at a meeting on Thursday. The uniform curriculum will help the students to compete at national and international levels.
The meeting also emphasized on research-based studies.
According to the sources, Students’ Academic Management System (SAMS) will conduct the common entrance examination. Students need to score a minimum of 45 per cent marks to appear the entrance examination.
The Vice Chancellors of all the universities of Odisha and PG Council Chairman and Examination Controllers were present in the meeting.
“We have brought some reforms like, common syllabus at UG level and common entrance examination at PG level from the coming academic year. We will improve our examination system,” said Higher Education Council Project Director Parameswaran B.
Utkal University will conduct the common entrance for humanities and social science streams and that for natural sciences will be held at Sambalpur University will conduct while Berhampur University will prepare the module for entrance in various other streams including commerce, management and affiliated courses.
