Puri: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate Maharshi Sandipani Veda Vidya Pratishthan in Odisha’s Puri town on Tuesday.
One of five Vedic schools to be set up under the new National Education Policy (NEP) in the country, the Pratishthan will impart education on Vedas, Vedic Mathematics, Sanskrit, Yoga and others to the students free of cost. The Pratishthan has been constructed in the campus of Central Sanskrit University.
In line with the NEP’s thrust on traditional Indian knowledge and study of Vedas, the Centre had decided to open the Vedic schools at 5 pilgrimage centres of Puri, Dwaraka, Badrinath, Sringeri and Guwahati.
Speaking on the Pratishthan at a press meet in Puri on Monday, its vice-principal Prafulla Mishra said besides Vedic studies, it will also impart train the students on science, technology, skills and personality development.
