Union minister Thawar Chand Gehlot lost her daughter Yogita Solanki to COVID-19 at Indore’s Medanta hospital on Monday.
The Social Justice and Empowerment minister’s office said Yogita had been infected a fortnight ago.
“She died this morning after suffering a heart attack. According to doctors, there was a blood clot which also caused a paralytic attack,” said a statement issued by the minister’s office said.
It was learnt that her RT-PCR test report had come negative, but she had symptoms. “When they got an HR-CT scan done, 90% damage to her lungs was detected after which she was admitted to hospital,’’ Hindustan Times quoted a minister’s aide as saying.
The 44-year-old Yogita was first admitted to a hospital in Ujjain, where the family is based. As her condition deteriorated, she was moved to Indore.
A homemaker, Yogita is survived by husband, a 23-year-old daughter and 20-year-old son.
The minister left for Ujjain on Friday itself, after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s COVID-related meeting of the council of ministers.
