Bhubaneswar: The Unit 4 market in Odisha capital and those operating adjacent to it will be opened from Friday.
The market and its adjoining areas were declared a containment zone and closed on July 16 following the detection of several COVID-19 cases.
In an office order, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation said that multiple rounds of mass testing of the vendors were conducted during this period.
Since the market carters to supply of essential commodities and food and is a wholesale market for grocery in Bhubaneswar, a decision to allow it to open from July 31 has been taken, it said.
“Vendor associations of Unit 4 market have submitted an undertaking with regard to adherence of all COVID-19 guidelines and it will be the responsibility of the head of commercial shops to ensure that social distancing norms are followed,” the order added.
