Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed higher education institutions in the state to conduct classes preferably during morning hours as a precautionary measure against possible heatwave conditions, sources said on Monday.
The institutions have also been conduct the exams during the morning hours.
In a letter to the universities and degree colleges, the Higher Education has cautioned against outdoor activities during afternoon sessions. Availability of drinking water and ORS should be ensured in all the institutions. Tubewells and pumps inside the institutions must be repaired wherever necessary.
It is also mandatory for the institutions to have first-aid kits to handle potential heat-related issues.
The department will also form a squad to check to enforce the decisions to ensure compliance with the SOPs.
