The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday issued a notification for conducting the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2020.
The examination will be held for 495 vacancies in the following categories:
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
The preliminary examination will be held on January 5, 2020.
The notification said that there would be negative marking for wrong answers in the objective type question papers.
The last date for submission of application is October 15, 2019 (6 pm). Candidates need to apply through online mode only.

The eligible candidates shall be issued an e‐admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the Examination.
The e‐admission certificate will be made available in the UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in. No admission certificate will be sent by post, the notification said.
The candidates have been asked to provide valid and active e‐mail i.d. while filling up the online application form as UPSC may use electronic mode for contacting them.
Age:
Candidates applying for the examination must have attained 21 years and be below 30 years as on January 1, 2020 (general).
Eligibility:
The candidate must have obtained an engineering degree or passed sections A and B of the institution examinations of the Institution of Engineers or obtained a degree or diploma in engineering from a foreign college/university under conditions recognised by the government.
