New Delhi: As the US and Israel’s war against Iran enters its sixth week, innocent people of different nationalities continue to be harmed in other countries.

Battered by relentless missile strikes on its territories since February 28, Iran has been retaliating by targeting Israel and US allies in the Gulf region.

On Friday, falling debris of an intercepted projectile in UAE capital Abu Dhabi injured 12 people, including 5 Indians and 7 Nepali nationals.

The debris from the aerial interception fell in the city’s Ajban area, Abu Dhabi’s Media Office said.

All 5 Indian citizens and 6 Nepali nationals sustained minor injuries, the government agency said.

One Nepali citizen has been severely wounded, it was announced.

The injuries were announced hours after a fire, caused by debris of intercepted projectiles, was reported at a gas facility in the same area.

“As part of the ongoing follow-up to the previously reported incident in the Ajban area caused by falling debris following the successful interception by air defence systems, authorities confirm that the incident has resulted in minor to moderate injuries sustained by 6 individuals of Nepali nationality and 5 individuals of Indian nationality, and one major injury sustained by an individual of Nepali nationality,” the media office said in a post on X.

The exact nature of the aerial threat was not disclosed.

On March 26, one Indian national was among two people killed when debris from a successful missile interception rained down on Abu Dhabi’s Sweihan Street.

Eight Indians have so far been killed and one person is missing amid the raging conflict in Middle East.

Several sites across the UAE, including energy infrastructure, have been targeted by Iranian drones and missiles since the outbreak of the war.

Israel apart, the other nations being targeted by Iran are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq and Oman.
