US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he would visit India this month to forge relations with re-elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to an agency report.
Pompeo also told reporters in Washington on Monday that he would outline the US strategy on the Indo-Pacific in a speech on Wednesday ahead of his trip to New Delhi, news agency AFP reported.
Speaking after Pompeo, US State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said the top diplomat could leave for New Delhi on June 24. He will also visit Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the devastating Easter suicide attacks against Christians, the spokesperson added.
