New Delhi: The United States will “immediately” make sources available for raw materials needed to increase production of coronavirus vaccine Covishield, of which there is a critical shortage in India.
India is grappling with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which is reporting over 3 lakh cases a day and an active caseload of close to 27 lakh.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had a discussion with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, on Sunday to confirm this, and also that his country had “identified supplies of therapeutics, rapid diagnostic test kits, ventilators and PPE suits that will (also) be made immediately available to India,” reported AFP.
US President Joe Biden tweeted that US is “determined” to help India in its “time of need”.
Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need. https://t.co/SzWRj0eP3y
