New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi levelled explosive allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, claiming that the “PM has been compromised.”
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, who triggered a row by quoting from an unpublished ‘memoir’ of former Army chief MM Naravane in his speech, was speaking to reporters outside Parliament on Tuesday after he was stopped from speaking any further on the issue.
Rahul said PM Modi was rattled as he signed the trade deal with US under pressure.
“Modi ji is rattled. The (US-India) trade deal, which was stalled for the past few months, was signed by Narendra Modi last night. There is extreme pressure on him. Narendra Modi ji’s image can get damaged,” Rahul said.
Rahul fumed over not being allowed to speak in Parliament as he tried to raise the China issue for the second consecutive day during the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s address. by Speaker Om Birla cited a previous ruling and violation of rules to stop the Congress MP.
“The main thing is that our PM is compromised. The public needs to think about this. For the first time, the LoP was not allowed to speak on the President’s speech. Narendra Modi ji has sold your hard work in this trade deal because he is compromised. He has sold the country,” Rahul added.
Rahul also made a mention of the Epstein files, allegations related to which India has already rejected.
“Narendra Modi ji is scared because those who shaped his image are now breaking this image… There is a case on (Gautam) Adani ji in the US, it is actually a case on Modi ji… The Epstein Files contain even more that the US has not yet released. There is pressure due to that as well. These are the two pressure points. The country should understand this,” Rahul said.
In the latest tranche of documents, images and videos pertaining to criminal activities of American financier and convicted child sex offender Epstein, there are references of Modi and his official visit to Israel in 2017.
India has denied the allegations, calling the claims baseless and contemptible.
LoP misleading the nation, says Piyush Goyal
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal hit back at Rahul, accusing him of “misleading the nation” and displaying “double standards” on key national issues.
Praising PM Modi’s leadership, the Union minister said the trade agreement had been finalised keeping national and public interest at the forefront.
“Today, every Indian is thanking Prime Minister Modi for securing a strong trade deal with the United States, something the country had been waiting for over many months,” he said. “It’s truly a deal that every Indian was waiting for. Every Indian is thanking PM Modi,” he said.
“I am amazed by Rahul Gandhi’s double standards. He is trying to mislead the country,” Goyal said.
“It is a great misfortune that negative-minded leaders like Rahul Gandhi are trying to mislead or confuse the country today. I condemn Rahul Gandhi’s lies and deceit. He wants to mislead people, but it won’t work. The country is moving forward. They have no interest in making India the fastest-growing economy in the world,” Goyal said.
