Bhubaneswar: Utkal University in Bhubaneswar has decided to start a course on performing art from next academic session.
This was revealed by the university’s vice-chancellor Prof Sabita Acharya while speaking at a national seminar on “Importance of Classical music in Odissi” which was jointly organised by Odisha branch of Pracheen Kala Kendra in collaboration with Sanskrit department of the university on Friday.
She said the performing art course can help the students explore their talents in classical dance and music besides pursuing their academic career in the university. It aims at enabling the youths to lead a stress-free life in pursuit of their goals, she added.
Odisha president of Pracheen Kala Kendra Byomkesh Jena, Odissi music exponent Gopal Chandra Panda, Odisha Sahitya Akademi member Antaryami Mishra and senior officials of Utkal University were present.
