Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have begun an investigation into the brutal attack on a student of Utkal University by a gang of miscreants at Unit-9 here on Saturday night.
According to police, P Akash Dora, a student of Utkal University, was with some of his friends at Srikala Ground in Unit-9 area at around 10 pm when about 15-20 miscreants suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the area.
Friends of Dora immediately informed police, who rushed to the spot and admitted him to Sparsh Hospital at Saheed Nagar. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to KIMS at Patia.
Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Sabita Dora, mother of the injured student, said that the varsity had recently witnessed a group clash and some non-students had targeted her son.
She said her son was preparing for competitive examinations after completing his graduation from the Jayadeb College.
