Bhubaneswar: The state government has received investment intents to the tune of Rs 16.73 lakh crore during the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave-2025, which concluded in the state capital on Wednesday.

Addressing a press meet after the grand event in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the government has received investment proposals of over 16.73 lakh crore in 20 sectors during the two-day global investment summit.

The state government has also signed a total of 145 MoUs with several corporate houses during the summit. The proposed projects are expected to create over 12.88 lakh employment opportunities in the state, the CM said.

This will bring about a major change in the socio-economic sector of Odisha and can lead to inclusive growth in the state, he said.

“The Utkarsh Odisha Conclave was a huge success with the state receiving a total of 593 projects with an investment of Rs 16.73 lakh crore and employment potential of 12.88 lakh across over 20 sectors,” the Chief Minister said.

These MoUs will bring about a paradigm shift in the industrial sector of Odisha and will usher in a new era of partnership with global industrial players, he said, adding that the event witnessed an unprecedented gathering of industry leaders, global delegates, investors, and policymakers.

Investment proposals have come from various sectors like chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, mining and metallurgy, renewable energy, IT, tourism and food processing.

The grand event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday in the presence of Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Majhi and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw and others.

Several top business leaders of India including Anil Agarwal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Sajjan Jindal, Naveen Jindal and Karan Adani attended the conclave.

The conclave attracted delegates from over 16 countries, including representatives from the Partner Countries – Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia – further strengthening Odisha’s position as a global investment destination.

The event on the second day featured key sectoral sessions on Textiles and Apparel, Renewable Energy, Skilled in Odisha, Women Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Circular Economy, Agro- and Food Processing, Healthcare, Pharma & Biotech, and Industrial Infrastructure, driving actionable strategies for investment and growth.

Sessions such as “Skilled in Odisha” highlighted workforce development initiatives to prepare youth for emerging industries. Sessions on Women Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Odisha focused on promoting innovation and inclusivity.

Odisha’s commitment to sustainability was reflected through discussions on renewable energy, circular economy practices, and green technologies.

“We are committed towards achieving the vision of Samrudh Odisha 2036 and contributing to Viksit Bharat 2047,” the CM added.

The Chief Minister also announced that the exhibition at the mega summit has been extended for one more day and it will remain open till January 31. This will enable the general public, especially the youth and students will have a better understanding of emergence of Odisha as a rising industrial powerhouse of the country.

Speaking at valedictory session of the conclave, CM Majhi said, “As we are coming to conclude Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave, 2025 I stand here with the immense happiness, pride and gratitude. From that momentous event of inauguration yesterday by Hon’ble Prime Minister till today I had the opportunity to interact with the brightest minds in the world of business and I can sleep peacefully today, that the time we invested in these two days are time well-spent.”

He further said, “Through this platform I came to know about the enthusiasm, great interest to do business in the state and at the same time came to know about the concerns some of you have raised. Surely, the government will look into every suggestion and take remedial steps to further improving the business eco-system in the goal of achieving ‘ease of doing business’ in Odisha.”
