Bhubaneswar: Last rites of iconic actor of Odisha Uttam Mohanty, who passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram, will be performed at Satya Nagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has already announced that cremation of the legendary actor will be held with full state honour.
As per a communication from the Home department to the Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, pilot-cum-escort would be provided to the mortal remains during the road journey.
Khurda Collector and Bhubaneswar DCP will pay homage to the mortal remains of the actor on behalf of the state government. State honour will be arranged by Bhubaneswar DCP during the funeral at Satya Nagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar, it said.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the versatile actor are expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar shortly.
Meanwhile, people from different spheres of life in the state mourned the demise of the legendary actor. Eminent personalities have mourned the passing of Mohanty.
Apart from Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, condolences have poured in from many leaders including Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed his sorrow over the passing of the legendary Odia actor.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of legendary Odia actor Uttam Mohanty, a towering figure in Odia cinema. His demise has left a void in the art world. Through his remarkable performances in numerous films, he has etched an indelible mark in the hearts of audiences, ensuring his memory will be cherished forever. In such a sad time, I express my condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the eternal peace of his soul,” the former Chief Minister said in a post on X handle.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy in a condolence message said the late actor was a highly popular hero who carved a niche for himself in the field of acting. Mohanty’s versatility as an actor was evident in his performances in numerous Odia, Bengali, and even Hindi films, showcasing his artistic prowess.
The Speaker prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended her condolences to the bereaved family.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of veteran actor Uttam Mohanty. His passing has created an irreparable void in the Odia film industry. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and pray that his immortal soul rests in eternal peace.”
