Dhenkanal: A tourist from Uttarakhand was found dead in the swimming pool of an eco-resort at Dhirapatana in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Tejas Ahuja, aged around 23 years, from Uttarakhand. He was reportedly on a visit to the area as part of a group and stayed in the resort located under the jurisdiction of Dhenkanal Sadar Police Station.
Fire service officials said Ahuja drowned in the swimming pool at in the morning while bathing. After getting information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and pulled him out of water. He was immediately taken to a hospital at Athagarh, where doctors declared him dead.
According to resort employees, Ahuja and his group members had dinner at the restaurant and went to their suites. The shocking incident took place in the morning.
While the exact circumstances the incident are unclear, sources suggest that the group had been drinking, which could have led to the mishap.
On being informed, a police team visited the site and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death and circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Further details are awaited.
