Balangir: All schools and Anganwadi centres (AWC) in Odisha’s Balangir district will remain shut on Thursday in view of very heavy rainfall forecast in the region.
“In view of heavy rainfall warning in Balangir district, all government and private schools and AWCs shall remain closed on 14th Sept, 2023,” an office order issued by the office of the District Collector said.
Notably, Balangir block recorded the highest rainfall of 215 mm in the last 24 hours.
The India Meteorological Department has also sounded red warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall for several districts, including Balangir, under the influence of a well marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts. Similar warning has been issued for Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Sambalpur during the next 24 hours.
