Bhubaneswar: Very severe thunderstorms coupled with lightning, hail, rain and strong surface winds may affect several districts of Odisha on Wednesday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
In a nowcast warning issued at 3:44 PM, the weather agency said intense thunderstorm activity with surface winds gusting between 50-60 kmph is very likely to occur at a few places in these Khurda and Puri districts during the next three hours.
Similarly, very severe thunderstorms, lightning with hail and rain and surface wind 50-60kmph may occur at a few places over Cuttack, Nayagarh in the evening, it said in another message.
This apart, severe thunderstorm with hail may affect Dhenkanal and Keonjhar districts, the IMD said in another newcast warning issued at 4.54 pm.
