VHP Demands Govt Probe Into Kamiya Jani’s Entry Into Jagannath Temple In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: The controversy surrounding the entry of social media influencer Kamiya Jani into Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri failed to die down even after her clarification with VHP demanding an investigation into the matter.
Addressing the media in Puri on Monday, international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Rabindra Narain Singh said the entry of Jani into Jagannath temple has hurt the religious sentiments of the devotees. The Parishad has no information about what transpired inside the temple.
“It has been brought to the notice of the VHP that VK Pandian and Jani went inside the temple. It is also alleged that Jani had taken a mobile phone inside and clicked photographs, violating the age-old traditions and practices. Though the Parishad does not have any evidence in this regard, it has hurt the sentiments of the devotees,” he said.
When pointed out that Jani had not taken her phone into the temple, Singh said the state government should investigate the matter and clarify the doubts of the people.
Speaking at the press meet, VHP spokesman Devjibhai Rawat said the people of holy land of Odisha are welcomed to attend the inauguration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
It may be noted that Jani on Sunday released a video clarifying the ‘beef promoter’ allegation. “It is unfortunate that my visit has snowballed into a controversy. I understand that the temple authorities have some rules. I want to clarify that I haven’t broken any rule. I am a practising Hindu. I have neither consumed beef nor promoted it,” she said in a post on Instagram.
