Bhopal: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has now turned its ire on Christmas.
the Hindu right-wing organisation directed schools in the Madhya Pradesh capital to not allow students to dress up as Santa Claus to celebrate Christmas.
VHP issued a letter to this effect to school principals in Bhopal.
According to VHP, students who believe in the Sanatan Hindu religion and culture are being forcefully asked to bring Christmas trees and dress up as Santa Claus.
“This is an attack on Hindu culture,” the VHP said, adding that it’s a conspiracy to impose Christianity on Hindu children.
“It is a conspiracy to inspire Hindu children to Christianity. Financially, parents are also at a loss by purchasing such dresses or trees. Is the school working to create faith in Christianity by making Hindu children Santa? Our Hindu children should become Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Gautam, Mahavir, and Guru Govind Singh. They should become revolutionaries and great men, not Santa,” the outfit said in its letter.
“India is a land of saints, not Santa,” the letter claimed.
VHP also threatened to take legal action against schools which don’t follow the diktat.
