Vigilance Apprehends Head Clerk While Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Kalahandi Dist
Bhawanipatna: Vigilance sleuths apprehended a state government official while taking bribe in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Friday.
A retired headmaster had lodged a complaint with Vigilance alleging that Judhistir Harijan alias Kumar, head clerk in the office of Block Education Officer at Kalampur in the district was demanding a bribe of Rs 13,000 in order to process and help release retirement benefits to the complainant.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance set a trap and the former headmaster went to give the bribe to the head clerk. While Judhistir was accepting the bribe, Vigilance officials caught him red-handed. They also recovered the entire amount from his possession and seized it.
Following the trap, residential house of Judhistir at Mathura, Junagarh in Kalahandi and his office room at Kalampur were being searched by Vigilance from disproportionate assets angle.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress.
