Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended a record-keeper for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Following a complaint that Swati Sucharita Patra, Senior Revenue Assistant-cum-Record Keeper in the office of Chhatrapur tehsildar in Ganjam district was demanding the bribe to process the file for conversation of agricultural land to homestead land and issuing record of rights (ROR), the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Patra and the Vigilance officials nabbed her accepting the amount. They recovered the amount from the possession of Patra and seized it.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at 3 locations of Patra from DA angle.
Berhampur Vigilance has filed a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress.
