Vigilance Arrests SCB Doctor Over Misappropriation Of Funds

Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested assistant professor in Department of Clinical Haematology in SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack Dr Sudha Sethy for allegedly misappropriating money under Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF).

According to vigilance sources, Sethy has misused her position to show undue official favour to certain pharmaceutical companies by prescribing various expensive medicines manufactured by some selected companies to poor patients getting financial assistance for their treatment under OSTF, which was formed by Odisha government in December 2011 for providing healthcare to BPL beneficiaries suffering from diseases like cancer and heart related ailments
Sethy was later produced before the court of special vigilance judge in Cuttack. The court rejected her bail plea and sent her to judicial custody till December 26.
Earlier in November, officials of the anti-corruption department raided the houses of head of Clinical Haematology Department in the medical college Dr Rabindra Kumar Jena on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
