Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Sunday arrested a senior assistant of a department of Utkal University, here in disproportionate assets case.
On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Ashok Kumar Mishra, senior assistant, Zoology Department, Utkal University, the Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on his properties at different places of the state on Saturday.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Mishra was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,33,81,977.
The senior assistant was found in possession of a triple-storey building, two double-storey buildings including LIG house, a single-storey building, 14 shop rooms, four plots, a motorcycle, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments, Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and household articles, according to a release of office of the Director, Vigilance, Odisha.
As Mishra could not satisfactorily account for his properties, Vigilance registered a case and arrested him on Sunday. Mishra was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar which remanded him in jail custody.
